Changing the idea

Changing the idea

We went with a different song because we realised that we couldn't create the same
sort of atmosphere as they had in that music video. So we've gone with "Sweet Child O Mine" as we can make a real story arc and some sort of narrative to the song in which we can use this to reflect the band performance.

Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill

This is On Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz.

The entirety of this music video is animated, however Goodwin's Theory still applies to this video, the beat of the music is rather relaxed, and the tone of the sung lyrics are gentle and not too harsh, a lot like being under the sea when sound is muted compared to being on the surface. In the video the animated characters are searching for 'Plastic Beach' and at the end of the video find it, this is represented in the lyrics where they reference a 'Plastic tree'. The animated style stays through all of Gorillaz work, and corresponds with one of Goodwin's points: 'The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their work (a visual style).' However the video doesn't correspond as much to the synthpop/indie rock genre of the music, but there are still some elements, Such as the telling of a story that appears occasionally in indie rock.

November Rain - Goodwins Theory

This song has a slow beat to it, matching in line with the video in which a bride walks up the aisle and gets married, the slow beat almost emphasises the footsteps as the bride walks along. At one point in the music video, The guitarist, Slash, plays several solos, and during this there is plenty of swooping camera action, that is typical with this genre of music. Towards the end of the song, the music speeds up during the funeral scene but also retains a general minor chord that keeps the sadness of a funeral intact.

Guns N' Roses - Star Analysis

Guns N' Roses

Guns N Roses is an American Classic rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1985.  This is one of the most famous rock bands in the entire world hits consisting of Sweet Child O Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City and Knocking on Heavens Door and many more. The band throughout the years has fluctuated with its members the original line up consisted of Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff Mckagen, Steven Adler and Slash the band split due to drug abuse, lateness and difference of opinion. Big players in the band being Slash and Axl Rose, have since the split in 1996 not properly spoken.

Changing Songs

Sweet Child O' Mine

We changed to Sweet Child O' Mine as the music video gives us much more ideas to work with then Papa Roach. This is because Last Resort looks like a lot of distorted spinning, although these are to be our own ideas Sweet Child O' Mine is a much better template to follow as there is lots of shots and tons of close ups.
We are using my band to cover the song and we already know this one so that's already done how we are going to overdub the original track.
